Emma J. Rosi

Steering Committee member Emma Rosi is a Senior Scientist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and is the Director of the Baltimore Ecosystem Study LTER. In urban ecosystems, her research focuses on novel and emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products, and how they influence aquatic ecosystems and microbial communities, including the development of antibiotic resistance. Her leadership of the BES LTER will provide a linkage between this project’s goals and a host of ecologists that have been conducting urban ecological research for nearly 20 years.

"Cities are microcosms of the evolutionary changes that are occurring on a planetary scale and thus provide a natural laboratory to advance our understanding of eco-evolutionary dynamics in a rapidly urbanizing world."
